Supporting future generations of vets and veterinary nurses
Langford Vets are the clinical teaching platform for the University of Bristol Veterinary School and provide both undergraduate and post graduate clinical training for vet and veterinary nursing students. We achieve this through the provision of clinical cases, in both first opinion and Diploma led Specialist referral settings. Our students learn their professional clinical skills by spending time in our practices and seeing outstanding care being delivered every day. Our commitment to career-long learning for all our teams means that we are always at the forefront of innovation and development.
We are also passionate about promoting career-long learning for veterinary professionals with advanced training and career development opportunities provided through our Langford Academy.

Where might you encounter our students?
Langford Vet Practice
Students might be present at your pet's consultation. The students in the practice are in their final year of the course which is solely practically based. The year consists of a series of ‘clinical rotations’ where small groups of students spend concentrated pieces of time – usually 3 weeks - learning skills in specific areas. The students are exposed to a vast amount of expertise and practical work preparing them for their future career.

Small Animal Referral Hospital
As we are a teaching hospital, final year veterinary students may take part in your consultation and follow your pet's journey through their hospital investigations under appropriate supervision. Often they will discuss your pet's clinical history with you and be part of the discussions with the clinician in charge of your care. They may also be the ones telephoning you with updates on your pet to help build their communication skills.

Farm Animal Practice
As a teaching practice associated with the University of Bristol Veterinary School, final year vet students will accompany our vets on nearly all visits. The benefits to our clients of the students attending calls is not only that we are contributing to training vets of the future, but also that the students can provide extra hands to catch and handle animals, as well as assist with certain procedures (always under the guidance of our vets).

Stables Equine Practice
You may find some of our students accompany the team on calls to your yard. These visits are vital for providing large animal experience as part of the degree programme.
