Recently Graduated Veterinary Surgeons

Starting out as a newly graduated vet can be challenging, and it's normal to feel out of your depth or isolated at times. To support you during this critical phase, our Recent Graduate Scheme offers a nurturing environment with monthly online webinars and biannual practical sessions. These sessions will help you hone your clinical skills and provide excellent networking opportunities.

By accessing the expertise of our specialists at the Langford Vets Small Animal Referral Hospital, you'll gain the confidence and knowledge needed to tackle complex situations. As a member of the Langford Academy Recent Graduate Scheme, you'll be eligible to attend our in-person practical sessions and receive notifications for our monthly online webinars as they are released. You'll also have exclusive access to a padlet where you can ask the speakers further questions.

For those seeking additional postgraduate training, consider applying for our rotating internship or residency programmes. The intern programme allows you to rotate through various specialties within the hospital with one-to-one tuition from our specialists throughout the year. It's an excellent option for rapidly improving your clinical skills and knowledge in a supportive environment or, for those aiming to specialise in the future, we have an excellent track record of securing residency positions for our interns. All our internship positions will be advertised on our website. Please not that we currently require at least one year of work experience to ensure your VetGDP is signed off before you can apply.

Our residency programmes are the ultimate training positions. Over a period of three to four years you will be equipped with all the practical skills, knowledge and other requirements needed to sit the qualifying exams for the specialist college of your choice. We currently offer residency positions in small animal anaesthesia, behaviour, cardiology, diagnostic imaging, internal medicine, feline medicine, neurology and small animal surgery. All of our residency positions will be advertised on our website.
