Bluetongue Latest Update - September 2024
Whilst the latest cases of bluetongue have been on the east coast of the country, this is a rapidly developing situation, so we will be monitoring the outbreak very closely. The virus is spread by biting midges, which are most active April - November.
Remember that this disease is notifiable, which means that if you suspect an animal has it, you must call APHA on 03000 200 301
These species are not affected by bluetongue
- Pigs
- Poultry
- Horses
- Humans
